The success story that is swissrent a sport began in 1987/88, when two sports goods retailers decided to team up to offer a professional rental service of high-quality winter sports equipment. The idea soon caught on and went from strength to strength! Today over 55 sports outlets in 28 winter sports resorts operate a franchise system, which reflects the vision of its founders. The concept is based on the following aims:
- winter sports should be more affordable – it isn't worth it for people spending eight to ten days on their winter holidays to buy a full set of equipment
- winter sports should be more convenient – no more lugging cumbersome equipment
- winter sports should be safer thanks to qualified advice and personal supervision
- winter sport enjoyment should be flexible and tailored to individual tastes
