The United Nations Women’s Guild celebrated 40 years of friendship in 2007.  The success of the Guild rests on the foundations of friendship and charity.  Currently the UNWG has more than 500 members who come from over 100 different countries.

Membership in the United Nations Women’s Guild provides an amazing opportunity to get together with woman from all over the world.  The camaraderie that develops between women of such diverse backgrounds often leads to lifelong friendships.  Together we share each other’s cultures, develop our talents and discover new ones, and raise money for needy children. We enjoy enriching programmes and activities all in the warm and inviting atmosphere of friendship.

Language should never be a barrier. Guild members come from many countries and there is always someone who speaks the same language. There are many conversational groups organized by the Guild that helps members to become familiar with other languages and cultures.
Membership of the UNWG is open to any woman who is a staff member or a spouse of a staff member of the United Nations Organizations or Permanent Missions to these organizations in Vienna. Women working for embassies whose countries are members of the United Nations may become associate members. Associate members may participate in all activities but may not vote or hold office.
A monthly newsletter is available to all members either online or via post. The Guild has a General meeting, usually the third Wednesday of every month, except July and August.

A very popular Welcoming Coffee, is held the fourth Wednesday of every month, except July and August.  Very often this includes a cultural programme beautifully presented and followed by food from the particular region of the hosting country.

Many of the activities revolve around exploring Vienna and the outskirts.  This is a marvelous way to get to know our host country.  The tours and activities are designed to enhance the full experience by offering exceptional guides and arrangements. There are guided tours to art exhibitions, galleries, places of historical and topical interest, and day trips to surrounding areas.

The Guild also sponsors tours outside Austria for our members.  These trips are usually organized by our members, often in conjunction with the embassy or knowledgeable people from the country being visited.  The trips are a golden opportunity to explore new places in the company of good friends. We have been to such diverse countries as India, China, Thailand, Armenia, Kenya, Morocco, Germany, Russia, Portugal and Azerbaijan and many others.
The Guild also has many regular activities for our members to pursue special interests and to meet other members in smaller groups.
All proceeds from fundraising go to projects for children in need.
