AMANDLA sees itself as a catalyst for social change on a global scale. We have a base in both South Africa and Germany and currently employ 30 people.
Florian Zech founded AMANDLA in 2007 with a team of local and international volunteers. He worked and lived for a year in an orphanage in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, as part of his civil service.
During this time Florian personally experienced the desperate need for education and leisure activities in areas facing the challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality. Together with young people from Khayelitsha he developed the AMANDLA idea.
AMANDLA’s innovation and results have been recognised with international awards such as the Beyond Sport Award and the ISPO Award. The AMANDLA team firmly believe in changing the social sector and is committed to achieving this at scale efficiently and effectively. With its tried and tested methods and tools, AMANDLA CHANGE supports other organizations on a strategic level.
AMANDLA finances itself through a broad portfolio of disposable assets, subsidies and private and corporate donations. The resources generated by AMANDLA CHANGE contribute to the financial sustainability of AMANDLA projects.
